I’ve started to hesitate before opening social media…
It’s no longer my window to the world as it once was — it has become a door to endless sorrow.
Every time I dare to log in, I’m met with another heartbreaking piece of news: a friend who is gone, a relative who was martyred, a neighbor who never returned, and a familiar face that has turned into a memory.
I go there searching for a glimpse of hope, a picture of ordinary life, a casual conversation to ease the weight of reality… but I always leave carrying a heavier pain, as if every notification takes a piece of my soul away with those who have departed.
These pages are no longer just words and pictures — they have become endless lists of farewells, read with tearful eyes and heavy hearts. We now count those who remain in our lives instead of sharing moments with them.
How painful it is when “refreshing the page” becomes a synonym for “another loss,” and the virtual world turns into an open cemetery where we pass by the names of our loved ones, one after another.
